Meghan Markle's Best Fashion Moments of All Time

She's undergone quite the style transformation.

Meghan Markle has lived seemingly a hundred lives—and so has her style. There was her sorority phase, chock-full of black turtlenecks and lacy frocks, the shiny mini dresses from her Deal or No Deal days, and the smart businesswear from her time on-screen as a paralegal-turned-associate (we see you, Rachel Zane fans). And then, of course, there's her Duchess era. Needless to say, Meghan’s fashion has evolved over the years—big time—with no period bringing bigger change than her time spent overseas with the royal family. While she certainly had plenty of inspo to draw upon for her sartorial take on life as a Duchess between Princess Diana, Kate Middleton, and Queen Elizabeth herself, Meghan still managed to hold her own, consistently making headlines for her crisp, chic silhouettes.

A little flashier than her British counterparts, she wasn’t afraid to break a few rules, making for a few of our all-time favorite royal style moments. Below, find 32 times Meghan knocked it out of the park with her ensembles—royal or otherwise.

February 15, 2012: Lovely in Lace

While Meghan wasn't a fan of the lace DVF dress she strutted her stuff in at a USA Network event in 2012, we think she looked positively ravishing. Meghan, however, found the outfit less memorable, telling British Glamour, “I was going to this event and there was this DVF lace dress with a zipper up the back, and it was so fitted, and had tea-length sleeves...I bought one in navy and black. It was too tight, and too short, and my hair was too polished, and everything about it was trying too hard."

The L.A. native went for an even bigger style splash with her official engagement photo look, opting for a Ralph & Russo couture ensemble with a sheer bodice that reportedly cost a staggering $75,000. According to photographer Alexi Lubormiski, the gown was chosen for its “comfort.” "To be honest, we tried on a couple of different things and that was just one that she felt comfortable in, so we weren’t really thinking, ‘Is it nude?’ or anything," he told Entertainment Tonight. "We just thought, 'Feel comfortable and let’s make some nice pictures.'"

Unlike Kate Middleton, who went for a fitted Victorian gown with a plunging neckline and a pretty lace overlay, Meghan kept things more demure, choosing a simple-yet-elegant design from Claire Waight Keller (aka the former artistic director of Givenchy). With a bateau neckline as its most standout feature, Keller noted on social media that “Purity and simplicity were the guiding principles” of the design. The veil, meanwhile, was chock-full of meaning, with flowers from the Commonwealth and her home state of California’s poppy all incorporated. She also wore a piece of blue fabric from the dress she wore on her first date with the prince inside her gown.

According to The Sun, the dress, while seemingly modest enough, went against tradition, which "usually dictates that royal women do not wear off-shoulder or other more revealing styles." We, however, think it just might have been her most fetching ensemble yet!

The garment Meghan chose to wear while giving her joint interview with Prince Harry to Oprah in March 2021 was far more than met the eye. According to People, the floral motif of the simple black silk Giorgio Armani frock was specifically chosen “because of the flower's symbolic association with rebirth, self-regeneration and spiritual enlightenment, and its ability to flourish despite seemingly challenging conditions."
