The Moment Kate Middleton Saw Her Kids at Princess Eugenie’s Wedding Is Going Viral—Here’s Why

When Princess Eugenie walked down the aisle toward Jack Brooksbank on October 12, 2018, at St. George’s Chapel, most of the guests had their eye on the bride. Kate Middleton, on the other hand, was looking right at Prince George and Princess Charlotte—her oldest children—who stole the show as the pageboy and flower girl. The moment that the Princess of Wales saw her children trailing behind Eugenie, her face lit up, and a video documenting her reaction is now going viral on TikTok. A Kate Middleton fan account, kateprincessofwales.fp, posted the clip on February 12, 2023, and it already has 458,000 views, 29,500 likes, 126 comments, and 32 shares a day later.

The video starts with the bride making her way to the altar, followed by George, Charlotte, and the other junior wedding party members, including Mia Tindall, Isla Phillips, Savannah Phillips, Maud Windsor, and Theodora Williams. Then, the camera pans to Kate, who is seated next to Prince William and Prince Harry, in the chapel. The caption, “The moment Kate saw them,” pops up on the screen. After spotting her children, a wide grin spreads across Kate’s face. At the end, Harry briefly exchanges a smile with Kate.

For the occasion, Charlotte donned a white dress with ruffled trim and a green printed sash, featuring a large bow in the back. She also carried a small bouquet of fresh flowers. George wore a white button-down shirt and blue dress pants with the same patterned sash tied around his waist. Mark Bradford, an artist whom the gallery Hauser & Wirth (where Eugenie is a director) represents, created the artwork shown on their sashes. Before the ceremony, the siblings were often photographed with the other wedding party members, sharing laughs and making silly faces.

For Jack and Eugenie’s celebration, Kate sported a bespoke dress by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, the same designer who created her wedding dress in 2011. Her outfit was an elegant plum A-line gown with three-quarter length sleeves and pleating around the neckline and on the skirt. She accessorized with a coordinating fascinator, which Philip Treacy designed. In total, 800 guests showed up for the ceremony, including the bride’s grandparents—Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip—and their celebrity friends. After the bride and groom traded vows, everyone celebrated at a luncheon that the queen hosted at Windsor Castle. 

Five months before Eugenie and Jack tied the knot, George and Charlotte were also part of Harry and Meghan Markle’s nuptials. For that wedding, the pageboys sported mini versions of the Blues and Royals frock coat, which Harry wore for his big day. Charlotte and the other flower girls were all clad in A-line white dresses designed by Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy (Meghan’s bridal gown designer) and matching flower crowns.
